I have worked in the security industry for over 20 years before I became a State Farm agent. This job required me to be away from my family frequently. I came to realize that time with my children was being affected. I like talking to and listening to people. My State Farm agent, at the time, suggested that I would be a good agent. I learned that being a small business owner as a State Farm agent would give me the opportunity to come home every night, be with my family and control my future. That is exactly what I have been doing for the last 18 years, leading my team of helpful friendly professionals. I grew up in South Gate surrounded by family which included strong women. I have fond memories being in the kitchen with my Hispanic mother and aunts. They shared their love of cooking with me. I love to cook and always make sure my children leave with leftovers when they visit. To me, food is love. As you can tell, I am passionate about family and cooking. I also enjoy traveling, yes – with family. I make time to serve my community. I am a member of Soroptimist International in Long Beach. This is an organization for women who work for peace, and in particular to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. I am a Pathways to independence mentor to help empower young women to change their environment and see what they can be. I also participate in fundraising for Concordia University and Bethany Lutheran Student Success Program.
